island, and Galathea National Park in the southern interior.

•The name of the park is originated from the Manas River (tributary of
Brahmaputra River)

Gulf of Mannar Biosphere Reserve
• In 1986, a group of 21 islets lying off the Tamil Nadu
coast between Thoothukudiand Dhanushkodi was
declared the Gulf of Mannar Marine National Park.
• It was declared a Biosphere Reserve in 1989.
• Part of UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves.
